Super Typhoon Sinlaku hit the Mariana Islands in April 2026 and caused widespread damage on Saipan. Sean MacDuff came into our Kalihi store afterward to buy batteries to send to his family and community there.

Bill talked with Sean about what people on Saipan were dealing with. Saipan is an island too, and it deals with the same kind of storm damage and power loss that Hawaii does. Battery Bill's put together batteries and portable power stations to send over.

Maisie Tenorio and Kathy Ruszala handled getting the power to the people who needed it on Saipan. Kathy works with children with disabilities on the island, and the batteries and generators kept their communication devices running during the outage.

On June 25, Sean came back to the Kalihi store with a plaque of appreciation from the group on Saipan, along with gifts from the island.
