1Pick your appliances
Tap anything you'd want on during an outage. Wattages sit on the high side of typical so the estimate leans safe. Edit them in step 2 if you know your numbers.
2How long does each one run?
For fridges, freezers, and mini fridges, the watts shown is what the compressor draws while it's actually running, not an average. The duty cycle slider under those items says how much of the day the compressor is on; we start you at a typical number so you don't have to know it, but it's there to adjust. Everything else just multiplies watts by hours per day.
